LendMap USA exists to answer one question accurately: what are the payday lending rules where I live? This policy explains how the numbers on this site are produced, who checks them, how mistakes get fixed, and where the money to run the site comes from.
1. Scope and mission
We cover small-dollar lending law in all 50 states and the District of Columbia: maximum loan amounts, fee caps, term limits, rollover rules, sample costs, the governing statute and the state regulator to contact. We do not publish lender reviews, we do not rank lenders, and we do not accept payment for placement of any lender on the site.
2. Sources
- State statutes and fee schedules — the primary source for every limit. Each state page links to the governing statute so you can verify us against the source.
- State financial regulators — licensing pages, rate guides and consumer notices published by the agencies that enforce these rules.
- Federal consumer authorities — CFPB research and FTC consumer guidance for market-level context, never as a substitute for state law.
- Public economic data — census-derived population and income figures used for context on city and state pages.
Where a source is ambiguous — for example, a fee expressed as a percentage of the check rather than an APR — we say so on the page instead of inventing a conversion, and we link the raw statute so you can read it yourself.
3. How content is created and reviewed
Limits are compiled into a structured dataset, then rendered into pages by a fixed template. Each page carries a data refreshed stamp so you can see how current it is. State law pages are reviewed at least annually and whenever a regime changes (a new cap, a sunset, a regulator reorganization). Legal changes are checked against the official statute text before publication — never against a secondary summary alone.
4. Corrections
If you find an error, email hello@lendmapusa.net with the page URL and, ideally, the statute or regulator notice that contradicts us. We read every message; confirmed errors in legal limits are corrected within five business days, and the data stamp is updated. We do not argue with statutes — if the primary source disagrees with the site, the site changes.
5. Advertising and affiliate disclosure
LendMap USA is free to read and supported by advertising. Some buttons on this site — labeled as application or comparison calls-to-action — lead to a loan request form operated by an independent third-party network. If you complete that form and accept a loan from a lender in that network, we may receive compensation. Compensation never affects the legal data we publish: the fee caps, APR figures and banned-state statuses are the same regardless of any commercial relationship, and we suppress lending calls-to-action entirely in states where storefront payday lending is not permitted.
6. What we will not do
- Publish a loan limit we cannot trace to a statute or regulator.
- Present sponsored content as independent editorial.
- Give individual legal or financial advice — we explain the rules; for your specific situation, contact your state regulator or a licensed adviser.
- Sell or share your personal information (see the Privacy Policy).
